I have an older Slingerland snare with an odd lug configuration. It is a solid mahogany shell that originally had a chrome veneer. It was in bad shape, so I removed it to find the beautiful mahogany underneath. It also has a 12 lug (I assume a field drum) rim on the batter side, and a 6 lug (I assume a student) rim on the snare side. I have been told by one person that this is an end of run drum that was built with leftover stuff from a regular production run. Does anyone know if that is feasible? It has Slingerland lugs, rims, and snare throwoff. Originally had a plain badge (no serial number), but somewhere it has gone missing. May have been destroyed (unfortunately) when I removed the original veneer (which, in retrospect) I should maybe not have done. But, it was in terrible condition. Anyway...can anyone give me any info on this drum?
old thread i know but i have a friend that wants to get rid of his 2-1 copper snare. What should i offer him to be fair???
