When I had 45 kits I used a climate controlled storeage unit 2 of them in fact. two 10x10 feet units.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I haven't personally used a storage facility, but definitely check into security, surveillance, individual door alarms, insurance, safety, etc. Make sure it's well lit inside and outside. Make sure it is "climate controlled", vs. "temperature controlled," and pack your equipment using moisture packets.

Or may I suggest...?

I absolutely love your solution!

I have already informed my son and 2 daughters that they will be elevated in life !

When they saw the picture they also thought it was a great idea, but of course got the "Dad there is a storage facility around the corner"

I have my drums in a climate controlled storage unit. They have a section where they allow bands, so I use it as a place to store my gear and rehearse. I have insurance and the facility is very secure.

Most responses have said 'climate controlled' which in my area (Midwest U.S.) DOESN'T exist... storage units have NO heating/A-C and the humidity is horrendous and WILL do damage over time. Make sure you can keep them DRY/ they can get cold and a bit hot BUT if for too long (ouch!) = so be CAREFUL where you store....

Bun Carlos told me ,in a conversation on another site, that his drums were in a "barn" that got cold cold cold in the winter and had no problems. He said heat will ruin a drum faster than der Kold...Gosh that was a long time ago...Thanks,V

I live in the Midwest (Cincinnati, OH) and I use a "climate controlled storage facility". It is very secure (individual units are alarmed) and there is locked gate. It is well lit, has 24/7 access and is 1.25 miles from my home.

It is truly climate controlled. There are central A/C and heating units in each building. Management states, in writing, that it will never get colder than 50 degrees and never get warmer than 80 degrees in the climate controlled units.

I've had most of my stuff there for a little over a year and it is working out well.

That is a great solution, although make sure you wear a football helmet to bed or you might give yourself a concussion each time you wake up by ramming your head into the ceiling!
