I always figured they were MIJ,but i saw a kit with a MIT badge..possible??

Possible. I think there were some MIT Apollos, so I guess there might have been some Stewarts as well. Did the badge say 'Made In Taiwan'?

All the SLMS stuff went to Taiwan after the Pearl acquisition of the contracts. When Star was shelved and TAMA brought to the forefront, Pearl took the contracts for Apollo/Stewart et al. They moved production to Taiwan in the mid 70s, so MIT is correct, after this period of transition.
