Stewart snare throw off

Loading...

Hi there, i have an older stewart snare drum in nice shape i'd like some help with on the strainer. I'm not sure about any missing parts but the throw off does work smooth but i don't know how the adjustment knob fits into place.

It looks like i'm missing some parts so if anyone can send me a pic of a complete throw off or even some pics of it still on the drum(maybe from inside the shell). You can email pics to

sonor13@sbcglobal.net or just post them here. BTW i plan on selling this along with a 13" tom, i'd really like to make this functional before i list it. Also i'd be interested in some parts for this drum and maybe a badge too!

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Gary.

Hi Jeff, the shell interier looks like yours with the rerings, the wrap is a buterscotch swirl(?) and in pretty good shape.

Thanks for the pics, the part i'm missing is the piece that the adjusting knob screws into. I think i can get one made at my shop.

Thanks alot, i'll try to get some pics up tonight.

The wrap color is called "Tiger's eye"....seen here: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/my_collection/literature/pearl/1968-pearl-catalog-12.jpg

I'll see what parts for Pearl snares I might have, but it is not my forte....I prefer, for whatever reason, the Star stencils. I do ave some Pearl parts, so maybe I have the right one for you.

FYI, this is a transition era drum. It has the foil oval badge, which is a Pearl thing at this time when they were taking over the St. Louis Music Supply contracts from Star. There was some Star and Pearl parts used on these drums during this era. Pearl was not trying to cause to much of a tidal wave, hence the oval foil badges as opposed to the brass ovals or the plastic rectangles. Once the deal was complete and Star was no more, once TAMA took front and center formal production, we see all the names associated with Star become Pearl production, and the quality went way down.
