My first drum set was plain blue wrapped Stewart...distributed by Sears at the time. I do not recall any re-rings in the drums but I paid much less attention to detail back then. No clue as to ply count either. Sorry. I do have some old pics which I'll try to dig up.

I have a Majestic kit that has a 14x14 floor tom, and it has a 3 ply shell with re-reings. Most of the kit is 60's luan, today I picked up a 60's snare, and after it came in, I found it also has 3 ply/re-rings. I am about to post it.

Thanks Jonni , the ply count was very helpful. I'm just wondering about the third re-ring in the center as I'm trying to I.D. a 20" bass drum hoping it may be a Slingerland but some of the Stewarts look real close. Hopefully someone out there has the knowledge to enlighten me. Keep on Klang'in.

How about post some pics of the bass and floor tom? It might help us. Also, pull off one of the lugs and look inside, I just found PEARL cast into the ones on my snare, so that was the only way I would have known for sure it came from them. Also, what kind of hoops? Some of the hoops for Stewarts (depending on era) look like the rolled in Rogers, or Slingers as well. It could get daunting....:D

Center reinforcement ring is almost certaintly Pearl. Which way is the grain of the wood running? Top to bottom and it's definetly not Slingerland.

Mystery solved. The grains of the wood run top to bottom so not Slingerland. Oh well c'est la vie. The lug casings have no writing on them at all. The thing that is most weird about it is all of the washers on the inside of the drum say "Slingerland Chicago ILL. USA". So now you can see my confusion. Thanks to all of you for your help.

Did you look inside the lug castings? That is were I found, quite by accident, that my little red rocket is a Pearl stencil/original. It's the hoops that tell me mine is a stencil tho.
