Here is that drum, with the "Tip" strainer. Like a Micro-sensitive, it tips in or out to adjust tension.

Yeah, that's a pretty good guage. If a drum has that strainer, it is earlier than the crappy cheap stencil snares of the 80s-90s. The only exception (as I have learned) would be the CB wristwatch lugged snare. I would like to have one of those.
