Hmmm...very strange. I collect Stars but,I have never seen a badge like that. If I were you, I'd check with Ralf. He certainly is more of an authority than I. Very puzzling.

I'm thinkin retrofit hardware on Star?? shells.

Tom mounts, ft leg mounts and the snare shell look like pearl clone.

I'd say it's a 90s cheapo MIC kit with 'Star' name plucked out of thin air. The tom/BD lugs do look quite similar to 70s Tama though

My first guess would be newer MIT with little connection to the pre-Tama stencils

but looking closer to what I thought were at first glance standard pearl style lugs

I see now that they are indeed Tama lugs I have two sets of Swings with the same Lugs

Ralf told me that on his Homepage you can find all the lugs that Star ever made, when it´s not there...it´s not Star;-)

Have a look yourself

This set reminds me strongly to another 'fake' Star drumset:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=26268&highlight=star+drums

The hardest fact against being either a Star or a Tama set is, in this case, the tom bracket. Star/ Tama never had this (Pearl style) type of a 'female' tom bracket (where the tom arm goes, through a hole in the shell, into the drum). Brackets for the floor tom legs: the same Pearl style type.

Well, and the badge screams 'fake' as well.
