Hello fellows -
I recently acquired a Star "Made in Japan" snare that will complete my Star kit restore. I have disassembled the snare and have found behind the washers of the lugs, there is what I think was a rubber grommet. Of course, being a vintage drum, these are all dried out. No problem, I thought they would come off with a little force of the fingernail. Nope. I soaked the drum in warm water and a little Dawn. It softened the area around the washers but the dried bit is still holding the washer on. And it's leaving a residue that is unsightly. Any ideas on how to remove this? I tried to pry off with a flathead screwdriver but was afraid to apply too much force for fear of scraping up the interior of the drum. See pictures for a better explanation. Thanks for any hints.
