Star Midget Kit Saved

Here is the latest addition to my collection. These Star "midget" drums were originally made for children. They are constructed exactly like full size drums, just smaller. Kick is 16, snare is 10 inch, rack tom is 9 and floor tom is 10 inch (diameter).

Some of the hardware is full size, like the kick pedal and the claws on the kick drum hoops, but a lot of the hardware is miniaturized to fit the scale of the kit.

I believe this kit is from 1967. What's really cool is the only thing I see that's missing is a couple of rubber feet on the snare stand. All drums have original (crappy) heads. All the fasteners and wing nuts appear period correct. There are no cracks or chips in the finish. I believe the brushes are even correct for these kits. Yes, the cymbal is beat, but as poor quality as it is, it's not surprising.

The last picture is the kit beside a standard 14 inch snare so you get the scale of this little kit.

It should clean up nice, but I wanted to share it with all of you in case you are interested

Take care,

Wow! Talk about a conversation piece! It already looks pretty darn good as-is. Can hardly wait to see it "cleaned up"!!

Love that kit Skink! Very nice. I'm into that kinda stuff as well. I have a 60's Star Starfield Cocktail kit that I restored. It has the 16" bass but with a 14" snare drum. I really enjoy it. I also have a Norma Gold Sparkle kit that has sizes like yours. Need to take some good pics of it. Thanks for sharing yours. Dig it!

Mike! A great kit, too! Reminds me of the one offered by Slingerland.
