Star Marching Snare Drum?

Loading...

Hello, Folks!

On ebay.ca there is a "!5 inch Wooden Star Brand Snare Drum" for sale for $76.00 American. I wrote to the gentleman seller and, he replied that it did "have a rope around it at one time" There is a badge with a Star insignia. The drum does look vintage. My questions are: Did Star ever make such a drum? Could this be an earlier American company using the same name? If this is a Japanese original Star, is the price out of line? Thank you, everyone.

Mysterious drum.

No, it's not a STAR/ MIJ drum - I think this drum is much older than 60s (= when Star started to produce drums under their brand name). Production date maybe 20s to 30s, just my guess.

I've never seen such wing screws at Star (snare) drums.

It is missing the typical additional 'Made in Japan' wording at the badge.

A rare find - thanks for sharing it with us!

Holy Moly, Battermen! This drum is up to nearly $140.00 American greenbacks! What the heck can it be?
