Hello alot2008Thanks for the reply Hey those drums of yours look Greatso far,the plastic hoop thing seems to be something they did on the six lug bass drums

Hello,

Yes, that's what I assume as well. At a certain time, close to the end of Star, they indeed also offered plastic hoops for their 'D-model' - obviously the cheaper version with six lugs only, see right side above:

http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=8&now=16

The Star bass drums I've seen so far with plastic hoops also had inlays/ notches for inlays always.

Note: perhaps these hoops were the forerunners for Tama's black 'Accutune' plastic bass drum hoops (no inlays) later.

Cheers, Ralf

Hello Ralf

Thank You for the reply

and the definative info on Star's use of the plastic bass drum hoops

the catalog page you posted showed it all

I would agree also that the production of these early plastic hoops by Star

were very likely the forerunners to the Accu-tune hoops used later by Tama

I never have liked the Accu-tune hoops based completely on appearance

I could not speak as to their avantage in keeping better tension on the head

They just do not look good to me

I feel the same about the black powder coated Star-cast mounts

I like the design as to resonance,

but I think the black takes away from the beauty of the kit over-all

I am not sure if chrome was an option as I have only seen the black

If Tama gave no option for chrome, then personally I feel they should have
