Star kit in black diamond pearl

Loading...

Some pictures of my newly restored Star kit in black diamond pearl. Based on the original catalogs my guess is that it is from 1966.

The snare is a Thunder, that I don't know anything about. I think it is later, any ideas? I have seen a picture of another Star kit with the exact same snare.

The Ride is an 22" Trowa, that I got with the kit.

Alright Andreas. The snare is not a Star, but I assume you already know that. It is a Pearl-Taiwan built drum. likely from the 80s. My assumption of date is due, in large part, to the specific type of snare strainer incorporated in this design. If I were you, I would get rid of it and install a better one. I think this one, from Pearl as well, would be a retrofit part and I use them on all my snares, woodies that is. You can get them from Pearl retailers, in replacement parts. Print out this picture and take it to your local drum shop. My local Guitar Center keeps them on hand and sells them for about US$23.00
