Next up is a 3 ply Star snare in the hard to find Fibre Gold wrap. It is all there, and complete with 2 extra holes in the strainer area. I did not drill these, but as I have nothing to cover them with, I will just leave them open, unless someone wants them filled with plastic wood.
The wrap has some fade, but it is even , and under the wrap, there is some discoloration. The shell has the original white base coat underneath and has apparently had some mildew or something get under. I am not really going to try to remedy this as the drum will be for sale as soon as I am done with it. As for the hoops, well....it may get new ones as they are not present, or are on some other drum.
I will lacquer it, smooth out the edges, not changing the contour from the original roundover. The reason for this is that the last one, the gorgeous blue sparkle, seen below, is the same shell and sounds amazing now. I kid you not, this is one fine drum and I intend to duplicate it, hopefully. The only thing I can see that will make a difference will be the difference in the number of lugs. This one is a 6 lugger where the blue one is an 8. And yes, I know...it has snare-sides top-side. It just sometimes happens we only have what we have.
