I have a Star kit, is there somewhere to purchase a bass drum logo and possibly reproduction badges.

Does anyone know the diameter of the tension rods, all of my Ludwig rods are a larger diameter. Thanks

The logo's are on eBay. Just look up "bass drum logo star" and you'll find a few different styles.

The badges are more hit or miss

They come up, but they're not there all the time.

Forum member and Star aficionado Ralf (from Germany) was kind enough to sell me some of his beautiful reproduction Star badges. As for the tension rods...I ran into a dead end when trying to find a source for them. On my latest Star (Lido Supreme) restoration I resorted to buying a thread tap for less than $10 at Lowe’s and re-sizing the lug inserts to take Ludwig rods. Works like a charm, just work slow and keep it oiled as you go. Replacing the lug inserts is the other viable option.

I've done this on a few of my Star-built drums. Many of my snare drums have the original metric tension rods, but there are also those drums where I've resorted to using standard 12-24 tension rods. It's really easy to re-tap a metric lug insert to 12-24.

Here's my Majestic (Star) snare drum with new 12-24 tension rods, using the original metric lug inserts re-tapped to 12-24. No tuning issues at all!
