I got all this hardware with latest star kit. The kit is still under renovation a COW Royal Star 22 12 13 16 14 snare. I also got all the cases including the box for a snare drum. I paid £60 for the lot. The snare drum on another thread. I cant help but notice a resemblance to rogers with all these stands. Once the drums are finished along with others star kits in restoration, i will post on VDF......Thanks....sean.
Star drums hardware restoration
That's very cool! Any time you get more than the drums themselves - it is quite a find! Are the cases Star cases as well? (Did Star ever make/sell cases?) Looks like that is not the original BD pedal, but at least the owner stuck with 'Star' with Tama.
I have a good collection of old MIJ flat stands but they are a mix of Pearl/Star. I know that these in particular are quite difficult to find and rare you see them. I have a Star cymbal stand like that but mine appears to mimic the next generation of Rogers hardware - double braced and then with the thin top post.
Are you going to continue to collect/ add to this collection? You could add the correct BD pedal and indeed more cymbal stands (we tend to use more than one or two).
Thanks for sharing! I wonder what Ralf has in terms of Star hardware.

This Star hardware is not so easy to find, especially in that apparently good condition. The affinity to Rogers and Slingerland (and partly Sonor) parts was evident ...
My Star kit came with just one cymbal stand so I had to buy another at that time: it was a single braced one made by Pearl: much better in handling 'cause the fixing elements at the tubs had plastic inserts, which made the movements more smooth. Star had only the metal on metal fixing elements. My hardware got lost when I sold my Star kit once.
Your bass drum pedal is the direct follow-up model from Tama, just a few years later. I remember I had this one, when the springs in my Star pedal stopped working.
As far as I know, Star had no hard cases. But they made vinyl cases: black ones with a white edging around. I had one for my bass drum. The toms were packed into big cotton bags, closed with a cord, which my mom had sewed me out of a great curtain, we had in the living room in former times ...

The cases are identical to premier with brown handles but no ID badges /labels. The bass drum pedal isnt star but Tama imperialstar. The star pedal is the same as the hi-hat pro pedal. I actually gig with the imperialstar as well as a single cobra. One thing i like is star went on to be probably the best drum company in the world today TAMA. ...Thanks for your input John / Ralf..........................sean

Thanks for your input on the hardware. If you look at pic the cymbal stand has no rubber feet, not a big deal. Also i have the top section without base and the tilt has broken, that part i may sell on its own as parts......Thanks sean..

Hi, Sean!
I am an avid collector of Star drums and percussion instruments. I have all the hardware from about 1971. It came with the kit with which I still play. I have it all cleaned and polished but, I play with modern hardware. It seems sturdier and I want to preserve my Star hardware. Best of luck in the future! This hobby can become addictive!

Hello Brian
I started with one star kit then two now i have 3 star kits cases hardware and the snare drums on the threads on VDF. My kit i rehearse with (dont laugh) is a 1973 premier olympic with as you guessed upto date heavy duty hardware. The main kit i take on gigs is a 1976 rogers londoner big R 5pce in ebony 22 12 13 16. The Tama bass drum pedal is still used and it is fast and as good as any pedal out there. Im thinking of getting a double Tama speed cobra bass drum pedal. I use a single cobra but fancy the double. .....All the best.......sean
Cheers to you, sir!!! I see that it's already too late. We are both hooked! Oh well. We could be doing worse things!

Just been looking at the early Tama catalogues, quite surprised how they carried on using these stands early on under Tama. I even seen a Tama Royal Star with both set of star lugs the slingy type and sharks tooth. I have 2 snare drums with the king beat type lugs and they are different was pointed out one type from 60's the other 70's. I have gigged both of these snares and they sing and the weight of the steel shell is so heavy........Its nice to bring these classy drums to life....sean
Hi, Sean,
Yep, I use my snare on a regular basis. I have six more plus two more complete Star sets. Two sets of bongos. Two Star round badged marchers. A star tambourine in the original box. Bass mufflers. Cowbells. Woodblocks. I just recently acquired a Star Conga. Looks like we are two lucky dudes, Sean!
Cheers, amigo!
Brian
