I just bought a vintage Star Drums childs set and can not find any info on them anywhere. I have a standard size Star Drums kit so I know alot about them. I can find no pictures nor even a mention in any Star catologs I have or have seen. These are from 1965-1968 because of the Badge style. The kit has wood shells and standard metal rims and hardware all but the lugs. Most of the hardware matches the regular hardware except a few items that are smaller in size. The kit has a 10 x16 kick with wooden hoops...6 x 9 rack tom...and a 4 x 10 snare with knob adjustable internal snares. The kit came with a 10 inch cymbal mounted on a straight rod on top of the kick. It came with a dual hoop mount cowbell woodblock mount with a 4 inch chrome cowbell. Woodblock was missing. It also has a bass drum pedal and even a small adjustable snare stand. The wrap is red oyster pearl. The kit is in great condition and has a few small issues...mostly small holes in the rack and snare heads. I have a few pictures in an album on my page so check them out and tell me what you can, or where to find the info. Thanks! Help2
Star Drums childs set
I like it.
That BD pedal is just like the first one I ever had.
Brings back memories of string, wire, tape and pliers.
Mine was not so good.
The kit was a Crest in ROP.

Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
Memories... I had that exact kit for my kids around 1972... You are probably right with the time frame as the one I bought was a few years old when I spotted it. ( same colour as well )...
I'll see if I can find a pic...
Cheers
Ok found a pic... Note the guitar cord (wool attached to a cardboard Imaginary Marshall stack)..

NB: PM sent.
Thanks to all that responded. I found out that they are Star Midget Drums from 1967. No wonder I had a hard time finding them. I find it funny that they (Star) would not have called them kids drums. I guess due to the construction of the kit being almost the same as a full sized kit, they did not want them to sound inferior so they went with Midget Drums. As I say alot lately...I learn something new everyday!
I have that same snare stand - now I know what it is. Thanks!
One more thing....COOL piece to have. No, we can't use it on our gigs, but what a great little historical piece to have! Surely this would be rare.
