Hello, Folks!
Would anyone out there happen to have an early 70's Star badge, the round kind, that they would part with? I'm beginning restoration on a vintage tom tom but, it lacks the appropriate insignia. Thank you.

Hi Brian,
In Germany there is right now an auction for such a snare drum with a respective badge:
Guess the snare will come up to EUR 30 to maybe 50. Is it interesting for you, when you buy it and the seller sends it to me and I forward only the badge on to you?
(I don't need the 'rest' of the drum, but could sell it again via ebay for you afterwards.)
Greetings,
Ralf (from Germany)
Dear Ralf,
I can't believe that a complete stranger would do this for another person! We are an ocean apart and several countries yet, you would unselfishly go to all this trouble to help someone you will in all likelihood, never meet.
I can't ask you to do this, my friend. A badge will come up eventually. It's not a big deal. What is a big deal however is your huge heart and keen sense of altruism! You are to be admired. People like you restore my sense of humanity!
Thank you, sir.
Brian
Pleasure, Brian!
And : no Sir, the fellows I know from here don't feel like complete strangers to me.;)
Let me tell you a little story: I've been searching for a special screw for my Premier more than three months without any success. Then, in another forum, it appeared that someone read my desparate 'need for help' note. This guy had two of these screws in mint (!) condition (even in their genuine plastic bag), putting them, with many other parts, from one side to the other over the years,
meaning: useless for him. He sent me these two screws (from UK), without charging a single penny to me ...
I love the spirit of vintage drums and what's behind it all ...
Greetings from Germany!
Ralf
Hi, Ralf!
I just wanted to let you know that Mikey 777 is alive and well and, in theory, has sent me my tom mount. Apparently he was ill. I just wanted to thank you for your kind words and letter of encouragement. In my opinion, you are one of the finest people this VDF has in it's membership.Thank you, sir.
Brian
Exellent! These are words of real gentleman!
Thanks, my friends.
Just like to keep it (this forum, especially) with MJ: 'make it a better place ...'
That's all.
:Santa:Merry Xmas:Santa:

This is indeed special. Seems like everyone is out to make a buck these days.
I bought some lugs from a fellow forum member and when i got them i as so disappointed. They were all rusty and i didnt even use them. Be careful who you deal with. Everyone on here arent as sincere as you guys are!

Thanks for the kind words, poppy! As long as people like Ralf and you are steadfast members of the VDF, then the organization will continue to flouish. Basic honesty and altruism do exist, though sometimes in this modern world, such traits become buried.Have a great New Year, poppy!
Brian
actualy I bought some drum wrap and will have a piece left over just big enough for a snare and Told Kevins about a week ago he can have it when Im done with my project.
