On Tuesday I came across an ad for a "ride cymbal" with a piece cut out of it. It was about 20 bucks and it looked like a Paiste 2002 (the picture was terrible but I thought I could recognise the lathing), so upon seller's clarification that it is a Paiste, I pulled the trigger.
"Oh yeah, I also have to tell you that it's got a tiny little crack. I put some tape on it so it doesn't spread" the seller informed me AFTER I sent him the money.
...oh well.
I received it today and realized I have to ask more questions and demand more pictures next time. It is a Paiste all right, but definitely not a 2002. Some beginner model, 20" brass. There's a small crack coming from the cut-out and also some tiny cracks at the hole. Despite all that it doesn't sound completely terrible and I might actually try to salvage it and have it as a back-up cymbal or something. It's not like I can make money out of the thing, anyway.
My question is, just out of curiosity, what is it?
It has no stamp, just the ink logo on the underside - I assume the top got rubbed off (the seller claimed it's "fairly new" lol).
Kinda of a flat-ish bell and more or less unfirom lathing, not too thin (I think that makes it sound 'ok').
Thanks and be more wary than I in your treasure hunting! ;)
