That "Speed Pedal" was my first hihat stand. I bought it new, with cymbals in a music store (Middleton Music, N.S) for I recall $30. Even at the time (1968) that was stupid-cheap. The kind where you can't expect it to be any good............. and it wasn't!I'm not a hard hitter, but I ended up breaking the pedalboard right in half. Never saw anything like it then or since, looked like it was karate-chopped right across the middle.
That's still a common problem to this day on Pearl pedals. You'd think they'd figure it out by now....
