Sour Salt - aka Citric Acid for rust removal

Loading...

Just wanted to share some info with all my VDF brothers out there about a cheap, effective & safe way to remove rust from old parts. It's called Sour Salt by the spice houses out there, but it's really a powdered form of Citric Acid. Not only will it remove rust from old parts, tools, etc., it's also a great substitute for salt for folks with high BP or just want to avoid having high BP. I'm adding a couple links my dad sent, one is an article about using it for rust removal & the other is a link to an online source to purchase it in bulk. Not sure if this info has been put out there before, but jeeeeeez, going thru old threads makes me want to stick a gun in my mouth, so I started a new one. Here's the links:

Most mild acids will work for rust removal. Citric is one and phosphoric acid, which is what is in Coca Cola, is another. Acetic acid will work too, but might make you crave a salad. Cool Dude
