Sorry, Rant!

Agreed but sometimes some people get impatient after a few minutes...Some guy emailed me 22 times within an hour asking the same question...It drove me nuts.

+1!! We're in an age where so many people have their email accounts sent to their smartphones. A big percentage of today's youth expect instant answers. I refuse to have my email account on my phone! My emails have to wait until I can access a computer! How many of you remember the "old days" when we had telephone answering machines and we could hardly wait to get home and see who called?!! Next, came remote access from a phone to retrieve your messages! And on, and on.....

Don't these whipper snappers understand that they are giving away their "hand" in the negotiation too when they do that? And, if you think it is bad with the music gear on CL, try dealing with someone on some consumer electronic item like a phone or TV...the flake factor goes up exponentially.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.

My rant is similar but completely different. I had a total of four companies do a bid this past November for landscaping and flatwork (patio) at my home. Believe it or not, only one of the four ever got back to me with a bid. I left messages for the other three. I was shocked. Times must be good.

Verminator,

A friend in the construction biz explained to me that so many guys had to switch careers back in the mid 2000's when the housing market crashed, that now there is a real shortage of skilled tradesmen. He has a bear of a time getting crews together.

Sometimes they don't care at all....And this has happened to me, where a seller responded back to my email about an item they were selling, weeks later, after they sold their gear, but never removed their ad. I know it's not the same situation with you, but it could very well be that they really don't care if anyone contacts them or not. Believe it or not, there are tons of people like that. My guitar player/musical partner is like that, and i've been with him for over 20 years. If it's not important to the individual to get business or sell an item or not, they won't care about responding. That also drives me nuts, but...What are ya gonna do ? You can't do anything.. I also agree with drumfx and others who say that sometimes these people are so preoccupied with life that they're really not worried about responding back or can't, simply because of that very reason.

A lack of response to a simple inquiry could also be a warning sign as to how timely the restoration work will be done.
