Just wondering, what were the four screws for on the top of the bass drum? Decoration or did they have a purpose?

The four rivit screws were for a support for the tom mount and the weight of the toms !i If you look at the tom mount poles on this catalog page you can see the tom mount and the support it sits on under it with the two rivit screws on the left and right of the seat !i
It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
