So I scored another matching Sonor kit to go with the other one I restored. My question is the newly acquired kit does not have reinforcement rings and the hoops are much lighter and do not have the flange that the other does. Does anyone know what models these are? They are both mid 60's. Thanks

Sonor changed from 3 ply with rerings to 6 ply no rerings in mid 60's I believe. Not sure of sspecific model info.
What are the sizes of the newer kit ?
Are there date stamps inside any of them ?

Upon further review the one without reinforcement rings is a 1960, 12", the other is a 1964, 13". All together I have a 12, 13 two 16 and two 20 bass drums a 8 and 6 lug. All "Made in Western Germany" matching red sparkle. Also have 14" matching snare drum.
Magnus is correct, six ply introduced in 64/65.
I was thinking maybe because it`s a twelve but what does the stamp read ?
What matters Milw is trim. Mounts, hoops, badges, plies, wraps, and lugs all matter in determining the years.
If you photo them stacked with the badges facing, then with the mounts facing, and please the snare up close (throw, butt, knobs) we can point out things to you. When you read a SONOR date stamp, the first digit is the last digit of that decade. The last two digits are the month of that decade. SONOR never lapped a decade without changes in the series. It`s easy to determine.
Ah yes, the non reinforced reads "607" which would mean it was a 1966 of July? Snare says "312'' and the reinforced 13" reads ''410"--- Hard to see on photo but all drums say made in Western Germany.

There is a slight difference in the neck of the older lugs than the newer lugs. If you put them side by side you will see it. Also the older one should be a tiny bit thinner.
I was looking to date a certain badge where the logo goes to the edge of the badge but yours are all the same and the shaft stops short. The cap for the throw, you may never find.
The mounts have the logo on them, the 50`s and very early 60`s did not.
Thanks. Yeah i've had the one set for a while and love the sound of them! A friend saw me playing them and said that he has the same set in his basement and sold it to me. I may be selling one of them soon.
