Sonor Teardrop 60's rims and bits wanted

Loading...

Hi there, i'm new here.

I've just snapped up my first vintage kit, a 60's Sonor Teardrop. I haven't picked it up yet, but looking at the ebay pics I might be needing 13" and 16" hoops and tension rods to go with them, and possibly a bass drum rod. Anyone got any ideas where I can aquire such things? Thanks in advance.

Pics of the kit are here:

Ah yes, I've made contact and the seller says he'll split the hoops and do me a 13 and 16. Sweet. Thanks jcymbal and Mikey777 but it looks like i'll go with these ones as they come together with rods. He told me not to hit buy it now but I wish he'd take the auction down!

These are triple flange hoops. They are not correct for a teardrop kit. The correct hoops had a round over edge on them. Here is a pic from another website showing a snare with the correct style rims. Click on the pic to see it larger for better detail.

Actually , Sonor made two types of hoops : the ones as in your pic and others which looked similar to Slingerland's stick savers . Check out these pics of circa 1970 sets , one owned by Horst Link's son . Rims on 12 different than 14 .
