Sonor Teardrop 2

Loading...

Well, here they are! Sonor teardrop in a Krystall Schwarz finish. They have the 3ply shells and they are in great condition.

I believe the are late 50's early 60's, can someone confirm this?

Thanks.

Any numbers imprinted inside?

Believe the 6 ply shells did not come out until later 60's. Badges?

Congrats Johnny! Incredible kit!

Your kit is "K-170 Chicago" or "K-180 Chicago Star" (1963-65).

I can say for sure that this set was no later than 1966, since this beautiful wrap "M-Kristall-Schwarz-Silber" (eng. cat. "M-Sparkling-Black-Silver-Striped") still was in current Sonor products in 1965 and was already absent in 1967.

Cheers,

George.

Congrats, Johnnyringo. George is correct about the dating. My kit - I posted a pic in your previous topic - is late 1950s. The lugs are different from yours, the badges and the tom mount. In fact, I would guess that your kit must be one of the last 3-plies, or at least a very late run.

And I don't think the floor tom legs are original on your kit. They should be straight, at least mine are.

Nice looking kit, Johnny Ringo. -some very unique-to-the-brand kinds of things...has almost a Trixon kind of Jetsons vibe to it....albeit much higher quality than Trixon...but just sayin' that's the vibe I'm picking up from them.

The 13,20 are more faded than the 16, but they are the ssme finish.

Super cool kit Johnny! Best lugs ever...but should be re-nicknamed “lawn dart lugs” IMHO.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.
