Were they the same 6 ply beech shell that was offered in the teardrop series, or were there modifications?..Round over edges I assume?..They have become my fave shell after all these years. Wonder why Yamaha dropped theirs?

Pretty much. The only change in the shell was the joining of the plies. Unlike the slant joint on the Drops, these were joined with a saw-tooth joint. later the Phonics has a S shaped joint.

Swingers got the same veneer finish inside. The difference between the quality pro grade Drops was all in the trim.

Late model Swingers 73/74 were the same quality as the Champion series. Swingers were the only kit in the 70`s that got three upgrades because Super Champions were phased out for Phonics.

What year do you have ? (three digit stamp inside)
