I have a POS Sonor International shell that I would like to use the lugs for another drum. It doesn't have any tension rods so i tried some regular TRs that I had. They screw in fine up to a certain point then stop. My question is, do I need a specific type of TR to use the Sonor lugs? Are they threaded differently? Thanks for any help, James

I believe the Sonors use metric threads. You will probably need to use Sonor rods with the slotted heads.

Take one of the lugs to the local hardware store and see what fits. Agree it is likely metric.
