Sonor Drum kit

$40. !!! You lucky Dawg!

A beautiful kit with absolutely dreamy sound due to the properly aged, ultra-thin European Beech shells... Sorry, sounds like a BMW commercial.

Great score!

Get a new tom holder,...they`re not too hard to find as they carried into the early Phonics with the thin shaft !! A newer Phonic or Sig. wont fit !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Update!!

I tried to sell the set today, and I was offered $300 for it. The guy told me that it was a "68 not a "65. I was asking $500, but the guy would only come up to $400 in trade. Would I be better off trying to find a replacement tom post, hoop for the floor tom, and lugs for the floor tom. First off what would be the difference between a '65 and a '68? Am I crazy to ask $500? and what would finding those parts do to the value?

The guy was correct in dating the kit to 1968 - but it could even be later. Check the date stamps inside the shells. (Here's useful info on dating Sonor drums: http://www.sonormuseum.com/identify/indentify.html) It's a 6 ply late teardrop kit.

I would personally not bother about collecting the various missing pieces to make the kit complete. At 300 USD you are still getting almost 8 times your money for it. These kits are not valuable, in the sense of Gretsch RBs.

I think this is your kit, from 66 German market. Sonor didn`t have a big or any US market until the 70`s. Notice the double tom holder,...These are impossible to find,...yours looks to have some kind of wedge in between it but a close up would answer that for me.

Stand firm at 500 and let the bids go up. The collectors in the Europian market are anal and covert. They`ll come out only when they are interested, and money is not useually an issue.

Pay no mind to opinions about comparison to other drum makers,..Sonor and Ludwig are in a class of their own,..

Yes,..find the missing parts and get it as complete as you can, you don`t have far to go !! If you must,..sell it, give time for the word to spread !!

Their stuff was just WAY too cool! BDP on top of it.....YOW!

Those DeLuxe stands are in my top 2 or 3.....tied with 60's Premier and Meazzi Hollywood as far as coolest stands EVER!
