Sonor D 440 snare - looking for info

Loading...

I have a chance to pick up a Sonor snare that I think is a D 440, which would have been their intro snare in the 70's.

Can anyone offer any perspective? I wonder if the shell is the same ferro-manganese steel as the 454?

I searched the internet and various drummer sites, but found no good info.

Some photos and catalog scans here.

Thanks

It does look like a D440 that came with their beginner and mid level kits like Action, Rocker, Swinger and Medley, ect. because it has the logo on the bowtie lugs like the 440 did. But there intro snares from the early 70`s were the Champion D426, D454, and D556 !i (and teardrop D436)

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
