Hi there Sonor experts - I just won this auction on the bay for a kit I thought was a champion kit even though the vendor thought it was a phonics - pics seemed to show champion lugs, badges and rounded edges - really appreciate any thoughts as to what I bought as I was after a champion kit? tried to post the link but it didnt seem to work. The item number is 181726017983 and can be entered into bay's search window.
Sonor Champion? Or Other?

That is not a Phonic kit. According to the Sonormuseum site's identify-your-kit page, it is indeed a Champion kit. Congrats!

Agreed, Champion, six ply. rounded. Super Champion was ten lug BD. Is there a three digit date stamp inside ?

Hi OddBall - will let you know when I receive them - I understand they are early 70s but don't know how to decode their date stamps - will post when I get them - thanks
Is there a big difference between teardrop rounded edges and champion rounded edges and their respective sound as I believe they are both beech?

The first digit is the year of that decade, the second two are the month. SONOR made a hardware change with the decades so everyone knew the decade. when they overlapped like drops did, you knew it wasn`t from earlier cuz it wasn`t out yet. example: a six ply drop kit that starts with a one, is early seventies because we know six ply wasn`t out in sixty one.....Germans????......
