Sonor Acrylic Champion???

Loading...

Hey guys,

I posted on Sonor museum about this kit but I can not get any photos to attach on their site. Anyway, this kit is on CL and the seller is asking $600.00 . I asked him the size of the kick drum and he said it was a 16X16. Sonor museum folks said that size kick drum was not made for Champion during that time. The pic is not that great but it looks bigger than a 16x16. Any ideas??

Thanks,

Dave

That`s a six lug 18" Champion BD, The Phonic 18" BD has eight lugs. It appears to have the 12x8 and 14x14 FT with and added tom. It looks original Champion to me by what I see. It should have come with a D500 seris snare, but could be ordered with any one available plus any available size toms.

Very limited number went out the door in club size, it`s twice as thick as any other acrylic company out there and the seems are V welded for through seem bond. At the time of the Champion, Sonor was pushing A`s and K`s out the door too. Do you know what cymbals are with it ?? Don`t expect cracks and fractures around lugs or mounts, not gonna happen with Sonor !!

Get it !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Well, the seller had no idea what he was talking about when he told me the kick drum was 16X16...I should have known, irregardless I bought the drums from him for a ridiculously cheap price. The drums have some issues, but for the price I bought them. They look cool, 10X9, 12X10, 16X16 and 18x18 toms. 22X16 kick drum and a Pork Pie clear Acrylic snare drum. There are some small drilled holes in the kick drum near the seam. The damper's on all of the toms are missing. They do however sound Huge. Some of the drums, to include the tom mount have a black Sonor sticker.

Any good way to repair the small holes in the Bass drum without it looking ridiculous. They are at the bottom of the drum, unseen from a distance. They do not affect the sound but was wondering if it's possible to fix.

Still not sure if its a mix of Phonics and Champions?

Thanks

Dave
