somewhat unique slingerland set

Loading...

I am an old "has been" drummer, I own what I think must be a somewhat unique set of Slingerland drums. These drums are covered with blue denim. I bought them used and have had them nearly 30 yrs.. I am 81 years of age and no longer play, except for my own enjoyment (my left hand "died" years ago). When I was 18, I traveled with an western swing band, in Okla & Ks.. Then in 1945, at age 19, I played in an 18 piece Air Force dance & stage band. The leader was a sax player named Alexander who was the co-owner of the Three Deuces nightclub in NYC.

Later, as a high school Latin teacher, I worked with the stage band.

In the 60-70's, as a college prof, I formed a jazz trio which did some innovative work. Thru the years, I have "sat in" with a number of bands.

My drums are fully Slingerland, including all stands and hardware. My cymbals are Zeljian and Krut. I would enjoy hearing from any & all drummers.

If you would like to see a picture of these drums, drop me an email:

Greetings Leon!

"How do you catch an unusual bird"?

"Unique up on it..."

Someone get the gong!

We talk alot about unusual colors around here and I agree very

much with O-Lugs that it's only a matter of time before they become

the hot item again.

I wish I had ordered my Slingerlands in one of the "Aztec" linoleum or

denim coverings.

Tell me, did they fade with repeated washings?

Someone get the gong!

I would love to see a picture or two, Sir...

Sounds like a very cool kit!! Love to see it.

Maybe you can get a picture up in the Drum Set Gallery.

My 81 year old dad and I just had a great trip to Chicago together to pick up a (hidden) Slingerland kit. He was a whiz kid dance band drummer around Philly before leaving for the War in '44.

Not a Guru... just interested..
