Some Tacton & Amati - a new successful grab

Loading...

Hello friends.

In august I have found a strange advert about selling some drum stuff -- а seller obviously is not a drummer.

I called to seller then to make an appointment but he was very busy. I called him once more and more....:(

I was a hunter during near three months but I became a winner only yesterday.

So, that is my grab:

1-2. Cymbalstand-crane Amati (~1986) - 2 pc;

3. Cymbalstand Premier, straight - (hard dated to me) - 1 pc;

4. Snarestand Amati (~1986) - 1 pc;

5. Hi-hat stand Amati (~1986) - 1 pc;

6-7. Ride Amati 20" (~1986) - 2 pc;

8. Hi-hat Amati 15", hammered (~1986) - 2 cym;

9. BD-pedal Amati (~1980), dir-drive, changeable footboard - 1 pc;

10. Cowbell (noname) - 1 pc;

11. Floor tom 'Tacton' 16" (~ 1986) - 1 pc;

12. Snare 'Tacton' (~ 1974) - 1 pc.

Also placed sticks 'Gladek' and roots.

My expenses were $ 147 totally.... :)

All the pics and descriptions will coming soon, if it will be interesting for you.

I honestly earned his rest at the weekend...:)

So, a camera is working again.

I successfully transfered all staff to small workshop placed behind the wall of my office.

Here is a bit first pics after check. BD-pedal is in vg codition, some neglible pitting on direct pull only - no more.

HH-stand is fully OK also -- non-scratch chrome, bolt threads is strong and etc.

HH cymbals -- no cracks, no defects on cental hole, fine sound, exellent shzz-z-zz.

I see that all staff indeed was out of real work - as new.

To be continued,

George.

Well, let's continue our review...

Now here are two Amati crane cymbal-stands and Pst-200 splash 12" in vg condition.

1. Stands have different counterbalances - first is for light crash stand and second - for heavy ride stand. All other parts are standard for its age - tube legs, single sockets, stamped plate clamps, metric threads.

I cleaned its a bit follow to my old formula -- diesel fuel mixed with tooth-powder. :)

2. Splash is not the best in the world, of course -- 200 series is a bit higher than entry level 101. But sound is not too bad for some beat accents... :)

See these on pics.

To be continued,

George.

It's always nice and enjoyable to see some drums and stuff we don't seem to have in my area.

Hi.

Move down on exposition...

There are Amati snare stand, and one of the both 20" rides -- first is heavy dark and second cymbal have a light, brightness sound. As all others, these in vg condition, except one T-bolt's thread on snare stand.

I don't understand why, but after repair my camera sometimes lose some focusing... :(

And I'll try to finish my story asap to last themes - Tacton's snare & tom.

To be continued,

George.

Hi all in new 2012.

As I promised, now I found some time to close this description.

Below a quick pics with TACTON snare 14 x 5".

Model - COS, near 1974, first non-parallel line after Trowa rebranding. Very good condition, no any corrosion, no scratch on chrome. Full original besides heads.

Throwoff - simple slide-leveral type. Hoops - for 8 lugs, traditional S-type with deep tension flanges, weld-rolled end-to-end, 1,8 mm thick. Bolts - 6 mm thread with 6 mm square heads.

Edges type - rounded, roll-flanged with an internal reinforcing steel wire.

Batter head - EVANS Genera Dry; resonant - REMO Aqua Ambsd Wthr King.

Defects which found: not high quality throwoff slide (tolerances not extremely precision), small transmit lever was curved a bit -- I've unbend it to correct position. :)

Compared to Dule's variant snare - this boy have an excellent shell surface's joint: not simple overflanged - it's accuracy rolled-spot welded seam.

Good sounding snare with mighty attack.
