Some questions about my 1962 Ludwig Super Classic

Loading...

Greetings all,

I've been snooping around this site for a while now unregistered, and I really enjoy the forum. I could not find an introduction section (am I stupid?), so I'll tell you a bit about myself before I ask my questions. I'm a member of one other drum forum on the web (centerstagem.com) which deals with more modern drums. I own three drum kits, 2 vintage, and one modern. My modern kit is a six piece Mapex Saturn in Copper Krush glass glitter. I own two vintage ludwig kits: a 67 blue sparkle super classic originally purchased for my father by my grandparents and handed down to me. No matching snare with this kit. Just 4 years earlier they had purchased a deep blue sparkle slingerland 5X14 snare to see if he would stick with it, he did. I have this snare drum as well. I also have a 62 superclassic in black oyster pearl, no matching snare here. The 62 is the set I have some questions about, and am considering selling. I rescued it at a garage sale recently. The finish is in amazing condition, but the shells are all missing lugs. The seller was the daughter of the original owner, and she is still looking through boxes to hopefully find the lugs. These drums have NOT been rewrapped. The question here is this: if she can't find the lugs, from a selling value stand point, is it worth it for me to A.) try and track down original lugs, B.) buy reproductions, or C.) just sell the shells IF i decide to sell the drums. I do have both wood hoops for the bass, and all hoops for the toms...all in great condition. Thanks guys!

Nick. First off Welcome to the VDF, Now you also have some darn cool drums, the 62 kit you do remember who played this particular kit don't you? ringo!, so what all beside the lugs are not there? in truth if the drums are black Oyster, and in good condition no issues or big one, you can come to the good by rebuilding the kit or selling the shells out right. can you post pics of these shells?

I'll work on getting some pics posted. May not be till tomorrow or Saturday as I'm working two jobs and going to college right now. And yes, I do know it's a ringo kit. Nothing else is missing from the shells. Now, there are no stands or speedking pedal with them. Just the shells.
