Some Gretsch help needed please on a 26" bass

Loading...

Hello,

My first Gretsch drum so need some help. Excuse my ignorance.

Checked the internet but didn't come up with definitive answers.

Found this 14 x 26 bass drum painted black and getting it back to player condition. Cleaned up nice but confused on a couple of things.

1. The badge was removed when they painted it and put back but not sure which way the badge is suppose to face. The bass drum has bass spurs that clamp on so I do not know which way the bass should be facing (front / back) either. Was hoping someone could tell me if the air hole is closer to the front or back and which way the Round Badge is suppose to face.

2. The bass also came with the cymbal arm pictured and the drum has 2 extra holes that I don't know if this was for a cymbal mount or not. You can see it in the picture, the holes are 1 and 7/8 inch center to center.

3. The drum is 1 t-rod and claw short (pictured). Does anyone know where I might be able to get one off hand? I rather buy from a forum-er but have checked ebay and have not seen one yet.

Thanks for any help.

This is a 50's model bass drum. the badge is facing correctly now. the two extra holes are for the cymbal mount. Is the interior clear?

Thanks for the reply Vintagemore,

As far as I know looks like it might of be clear, just signs of black paint, go figure. No signs of older paint or silver.

Does anyone know what type of cymbal mount might have an 1-7/8 spacing for 50's bass drum? Looks like the diamond plates are 3 inch spacing.

Just want to say amazing job taking that black paint off and saving a cool old drum. Will make a nice kit when you find a couple toms.
