Snare drums that keep the throw off assembly simple do not have this problem. Hence, my preference for simple and uncomplicated snare drums.

I would agree with this! In regards to the drum in question, it seems obvious to me that a better throw-off should have been used. Just the way it's installed seems like more of a hack-job to me! This expensive snare should have had a more compact throw-off.

Problem solved.

I’m using strings and placed them through the back and over the bottom of the throw off to give a more vertical drop cresting more clearance.
