Snare Stand

As most of you probably know, I like to use a snare snare for my ride tom if the original tom holder is difficult to adjust for comfort or if it's chocking the drum. I never had a problem putting a 13 on a snare stand, it always had resonance. But it seems I always have a problem with putting a 12 on one. I'm not sure what it is, but most kits I've had with a 12 would choke on a snare stand. I had heard that the lighter the stand, the more the tom would resonate, I'm using a Yamaha snare stand, it's sorta right in the middle, not heavy, not light. So my question is this, is there anything I can do to the stand itself to get more resonance from the drum? Or is a light stand the answer?

I believe the product is called booty shakers. They’re just foam pieces that the snare sets on. I bought some foam pipe insulation and that seems to work well. My two cents. Good luck!

I don't remember the product name or brand but I saw some of what appeared to be rubber arms designed for just such a purpose at Fork's Drum Shop. It may have been a Pearl product but I am not sure. They are very similar to the Booty Shaker foam but seemed to not be foam and a little more flexible. Sorry I don't remember more but I don't use a snare stand. I first thought they were designed for mounting small diameter snare drums on a regular stand but then realized they were for toms or increasing snare drum resonance. Maybe someone else can chime in with the product name and brand. At least you will have options. Good luck.

Why not try some foam pipe insulator? You can cut it the length you need and slip or wrap it over the ends of the stand dinguses.
