Snare Identification

Loading...

Does anyone have ideas about this snare and what manufacture it is? it's for sale in my area for 80$. No markings on it. Seller says it's early 1900s. It was sold from a store that was operating in 1919 in my city.

Maybe Lyon and Healey? What's it worth?

Could very likely be a Lyon & Healy even if it has the label of a "jobber" in the interior. A jobber was a company that distributed the drum under its own name. I have a very similar drum that bears this label:

Before you buy, CHECK THE SHELL DIAMETER! Without thinking about that little detail, I discovered after I bought my drum that the diameter is exactly 13.5". Needless to say, replacing the original torn calfskin batter head proved to be a P.I.T.A!

Post more pics if you end up buying the drum.
