Last weekend I bought a vintage Sonor kit with this snare:

The size is 5x14, 8 lugs, the snare wires are made in England ("New Era, Made in England").

Can someone tell me what it is for a drum?

Thanx!

Had NEW ERA something to do with Premier? I think it is some kind of Premier Product!? But i am not sure:-)!!!

Sonor drums from that era were made in Germany, not England. Christian is correct that "New Era" was a line of student oriented drums from Premier. Search for Premier+new era for more info. The throwoff looks like a Ludwig to me with the logo faceplate removed. Any indication that it was replaced somewhere along the way?

Hummm....hoops remind me of Slingerland, Shell reminds me of Rogers, Lugs remind me of Gretsch, Strainer Ludwig P-85......

Looks like a winner!

Does it sound that good?

Quite unique! It will likely serve as a great conversation piece wherever you take her!

Clean it up and post in our gallery - we would really like it there (I think I can speak for the rest of the 13000+ or so here!)

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thank you for your help!

The shell is definitley a Rogers Powertone shell.

But why put someone Gretsch lugs, Slingerland hoops and a Ludwig strainer on it? The best from all american drum builders? :D

The snare sounds superb in my ears, powerful, very good projection.

I played many Rogers Dyna-sonics, the volume and the sound reminding me.

I'll clean it and install new drumheads and Puresound snarewires.

The mystery is solved:

On the resohead I found a small sticker with the inscription "Kolberg percussion, made in Germany"

Here you can compare the lugs well:

It´s a steel shell, the lugs are made of brass.

I love the sound, a great snare for rock.
