Pearl, 'battleship lugs' late 60s, early 70s. Probably from lower end kit, (six lugs) may have been badged under any number of stencil brand names.

Does it have re-rings? If it doesn't have any indication of a Pearl script logo then it might be a Tempro. I have an eight lug version in a different wrap.

No re-rings, shell material looks Asian (i.e. Lauan or similar)

the shells are Luan indeed (philipine mahogany i think).

I remember that Pearl also had a 6 lugger but I can't remember if theirs had re-rings or not.

It's kinda weird because my Tempro has 8 lugs but has re-rings. So I'm doubting myself a bit here. I'm assuming that the Tempro's are of lesser quality then Pearl, thus having the re-rings while Pearl having the thicker shells. But I could be wrong.

I have a Dixie - same thing (Pearl/6/no rings)

Had my edges recut (standard 45s) and it made it sound SO much better.

At the same time - not sure if that was because the 45 work good on these shells,, or if it was because my shell/edges were crappy beforehand.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
