Looks like it is going to be sweet! I got to give wrapping drums a try. Had you done this before?
I wraped the 13" 16" toms and 22" Bass Drum a few years ago I am matching this snare with, and also a Silver Sparkle 14"x14" floor tom a year and a half ago. I use Jammin Sam's tape method. Didn't want to deal with all the glues and mess. Have had no problems whatsoever, and the drums look and sound great.
Looks real nice so far, the hardware will really set it off! You have to post a pic of it with the other drums when your done please.
Will do Jeff. I am still considering rewrapping my Silver Mist Big R set because of the cracked wrap. I know it would look great, but holding off for the time being. Big job for a full set like that.
Tim - Nice job man. How well does the new sky blue pearl match your other drums? It really is different from the old school SBP. It's going to look killer when you put it back together. I have a 1960 Ludwig kit in SBP, one of my favorite finishes.

Finished the snare drum. I usually put Coated Ambassadors on my snare batter, but the drum came with this new Evans. It will do for now. The wrap matches the wrap on my toms and bass drum perfectly.
Now they all match. Not really bothered that the snare is not a Slingerland. Would bother me if it was a tom or bass. Look's and sound's just fine. I may put some heavier hoops on it. I did not drill the vent hole in this snare. I have a nice grommet for it, but going without either for now. It sounds fine. Any opinions on this ?

Open the vent hole Tim. If the air can't get out when you hit it, it could set up some weird sympathetic vibrations that can mess with the sound of the drum. Maybe not... try it and see if you get any funny after-sounds. If not, you're good to go. To tell you the truth, I don't really know how much a sound hole effects the sound of a drum. Good question for a tech. In the meantime, nice job. Enjoy your kit.
I was listening to Govt. Mule/Warren Haynes last night and his drummer's old Slingy's sounded so good. Bang de drum mon!

I have another Snare exactly like the newly wrapped snare with a air hole and I can't tell any difference. The pre 64 Slingerland toms had no air vents. My toms on this set do not, and they are very resonant. Peaches and Pears I guess.
Thats a nice looking kit, you did a great job on them.
