Hard to tell, but based on the color of the badge alone,I would say Mica or Majestic. It looks like a MIJ 60's stencil drum.I have a snare in red sparkle with that strainer.,but no badge.Unless its a really great or vintage hardshell case,80 is too much. You can get an Acrolite for that much.25-30 tops.

It is indeed an MIJ stencil, not worth 80 bucks though (to me, anyway). I normally pay 20-50, tops, for MIJ snares. It would have to a really special wrap for me to want to drop 80 bones on it.
There is also a learning curve to these snares. Some are 3 ply, some 4, some 6 or more and learning to tune each of these types of shells is something many drummers just don't have the stomach for. (and some, that may appear to be similar construction, are from different eras and sound completely different from one that, to most people, is identical) Not like a Ludwig Pioneer or Jazzfest, just tighten or loosen the heads and fiddle with the wires. It takes dedication and real understanding of sonic waves to get one sounding really good. I have had more than 50 MIJ snares and and can tell you, they are fun to own, once you figure them out.
Oh, BTW, not a Majestic, they have a dedicated type of badge, brass or aluminum, in the shape of an "M". (I have some of the badges and sold a few of the kits...)
Jon is the MIJ expert around these parts, thats for sure.
My own experience with the 9 or 10 MIJ snare drums I've owned (all gone except for my first one) is that you CAN get them to sound good with alot of work, but my problem was that after 15 minutes or so of playing they would just go out of tune. Thats why I stopped using them at gigs after 1985 or so.
