Snare Bed Not Centered?

Loading...

While preparing to attach new hardware to this shell I realized the snare bed is offset on the butt side. Is this something to be concerned about? I attached pictures of both sides for reference.

If it were mine, I'd give it go as it is.

Definitely looks like a Slingerland shell! I've had so many with these snare bed issues! Like Mike said "I'd give it go as it is".

Agreed, it looks like just a more gradual slope up to the edge on the right. Plenty of flat surface in the center for the wires.

Thanks for all the responses!

In the back of my mind I felt like "Well, it spent the last 50+ years this way.... why do anything about it now!" but it is nice to hear you all feel the same way.

Compared to the beds on a Ludwig "Black Galaxy" Acrolite snare drum I had, you have nothing to worry about! The long blue tape is where the beds are located, with the small blue tape showing where they should have been. Talk about snare buzz!! Assemble your 50+ year old Slingerland and enjoy it!
