Hi!
I have an opportunity to buy this 12" cymbal, apparently from 20s or 30s. Seller says it's got soft, short sound ideal for swing and that his grandfather calls it "smirna" although he doesn't know why.
I googled "smirna" and I found out it's a turkish town in Anatolia, called Izmir in Turkish and Smyrna in ancient Greek. Both Izmir and Anatolian are today's cymbalmakers, so I guess it's safe to assume this cymbal is turkish, too.
Seller claims it weighs 426g. Seems quite nice weight for a 12" cymbal, right? I don't really need it, but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. He's asking 40 dollars. What do you think?
