I'm thinking about using a 14x10 tom on a stand in place of my 14x14 floor. Anyone tried using this size for all purpose music with good results?
small tom= small sound?
I've got a 10x14 center lug that I added to legs to. Sounds as big as any 14x14 that I have. Love the sound and size.

Think I might convert the floor into a snare drum and a rack!!...Gives me a full kitSoap Box
Looks like you have made a decision... but yes I have been doing exactly that for the past couple of years.. 10x14 Slingerland on a snare stand and its 16x18FT brother having some "time off" depending on the gig...
Works fine for me..

10x14 Ludwig Vistalite rack tom that has ended up as my floor tom with placement on a snare stand. (I remember reading some article in Modern Drummer about some guy using a 10x14 as a floor tom and that left a huge impression on me, especially since true Vistalite floor toms aren't cheap!)
Mounted mine using a clamp and a cymbal stand. Thought it sounded great.
