Unfortunately for me, I'm dealing with some pretty arcane stuff here. It's a Charles A. Stromberg drum circa 1915 - 1920. I've seen earlier, single-tension Strombergs with the same strainer and later examples with these lugs and metal hoops but this drum is a curious middle ground.Repro Leedy rods fit but are too short. I think that means the threading is 10/24". Right? Problem is the repros are way to short to reach the lugs!I'm not above re-threading a rod if I can find something remotely close to size. Is a machine shop going to laugh me out the door if I walk in and ask them to make me ONE tension rod?!? -Lee

I'm pretty sure that vintage 60's Premier rods will fit(the come in the most weird lengths!).. I have a few spares around, but it will probably be to expensive to ship to you :-(

But on eBay you can find them for sure.. not always cheap though..

I know a guy in England(several actually) that can find any Premier part (at least that is my experience).. send me a message, and I can send you his email address.. don't want to post it in public.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the helpful info and suggestions! I sent a couple of PMs but nothing has panned out as of yet. I ended up pulling two old Sonor rods of ebay the other day (why is that always my solution to everything?!?) so hopefully they will be a fit. Waiting on shipping now from the UK so it will be a few days. If this doesn't solve the prob, we'll bump the thread and try again!

Correct you are Mikey. I'll send you another PM. Hope you have one or two sitting around.

The Sonor rods I came up with are not the right size so unfortunately that idea didn't pan out. 10-24 Fillister Head Machine Screws will work but the heads won't be a match...

Anyone else have any ideas / leads?

Here's how these guys explain it:

" Inch fasteners are specified with a size and the number of threads. For example, 1/4"-28 indicates a 1/4" diameter screw with 28 threads per inch.

Metric fasteners are specified with a thread pitch instead of a thread count. The thread pitch is the distance between threads."

So what I'm looking for is size 10 (the first size offered smaller than 1/4", roughly 3/16" I think) and with 24 threads per inch.
