Slingy that has seen better days.

From the last pic without the clamps, it looks like you have a large area of the mahogany ply missing. I guess you could smooth it out with the right type filler and spatula.

The pics below show the game plan to fix the missing magohony ply pieces. Have some scraps from a 40's table restore that are a good match.

Found a couple more area's that had minor ply lift. Had great luck thinning the glue just a tad and working that into the area best I could and then a shot of low pressure compressed air to force it deep. Repeat and then clamped.

Drum key is for scale. Anyone with a Slingy key and a Rogers kit, let's trade:-)

The red/blue/black layers of paint on the inner shell are coming off easy. Just may be able to save this one.

Well still working on it. Very slow go. Took the advice about not being able to get everything solid again and did some pondering.

Came up with this as my best attempt at the problem. The toothpicks jam well into the lifted outer layers. Easy to find the point that is still solid. Work plenty of glue in, hit with compressed air until glue is blowing out on all edges. Finger press lifted pieces into place and wipe off the excess glue with warm water. Blue tape, then move on to the next section. Once finished clamp.

Enough verbage here's some pics.

Any suggestions are more than welcome, Thanks!!

You are to be commended for your patience...good job. I like your idea of using compressed air to blow the glue deeper into the plys!

Maybe a piece of a doner shell to use as a clamping brace over the tape next time instead of straight stock !i

It is a labor of love. Nothing better than the satisfaction of mending something so that it can return to it's former glory.

Per the clamping sticks I used a China Freight table top belt sander to fab convex/concave clamp bucks. Was a bit of lost fingertip skin on that project :-)
