Slingy I.d. Help Needed

Loading...

Some time ago I purchased a Slingerland snare in original Capri Pearl wrap.

I'm spending some time today cataloging some of my snares and, as usual, I'm counting on the expert members of this forum to make sure I've got the most accurate & complete information available.

This particular snare is a 6-lugger (14 x 5.5), with original COB rims, Rapid strainer, round knob tone control, and Black & Brass Slingerland Niles badge with a serial number of 16344. The shell is date-stamped AUG 1963. Based on the above features, I believe it's a Deluxe Student Model. Would you all concur?

I'm also trying to correctly identify the shell. I've attached some pics. My assumption is that it's a 3-ply. Is this correct?

As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help!

Appreciate the feedback to date.

Is it safe to assume that this is, in fact, a 3-ply shell?

Thanks!
