Slingy Cymbal Stand Tilter

Loading...

I was going through some of my "drum stuff" and ran across this Slingy tilter. There's some sort of metal piece that I can only describe as a "bent nail" coming out of the top section (please see pics). If I push it in (or through) the top portion of the tilter it still protrudes somewhat. Should the "excess" be bent around the top portion of the tilter? If not, where should it go?

THANKS in advance for your help!

All of my Slingerland stands are at my buddy's house in our practice room - so I can't look at mine to verify this - but I believe a roll pin should be there holding the top section onto the middle.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

As slingerLynn, Points out a small roll pin should be in the hole. The roll pin should not stick out of the hole should be flat to the tilter top piece...After looking at your photos your Slingerland tilter could be a M.I.J. copy i can't say that for sure by the photos....Mikey

SlingerLynn & MIKEY777: Thanks for the feedback and the information provided. Are roll pins in that size readily available? Also, just wondering what makes you think that the tilter could possibly be a M.I.J. copy, Mike?

Any good hardware or auto parts store should have the roll pins. If you don't have the proper punch you can cut the head off a nail the same diameter and use it as a small punch. Bring it with you and fit the size best you can.

Yes, roll pin is what you need. I did the nail trick on a stand, actually I used a screw/nut.

Anyway, I have Slingy and MIJ Slingy copy stands that have the similar tilter. This one looks like the Slingy version to me.
