Slingerland Yellowjacket Cross-breed...or freak show?

It seems to me that Slingerland hardware just don't get no respect...despite the fact that IMHO it's well made and has great performance.

So...the 1969 Slingerland kit came with a Tempo King, which I like. But I like the Yellowjacket better.

I tried the Speed Master, but really did not like it. It's just weird...but it DID have a one piece footboard. I tend to think those are comfortable, especially the ones where the hinge is lined up with the ankle, like the Speed Kings, and the DW 5000 AD (?) since I play heel down.

So... what if the Yellowjacket and Speed Master bred a ... uh.... unique offspring?

This isn't the final job; I need to find some better fitting hardware. But here's the deal--it plays great! It feels like the DW, but fits better with the vintage kit. What the heck? Why not?

Great work that's pretty clever. I'd call it more of a hi-bred than a freak show. You always do awesome work.

Thanks, y'all. Like I said, not quite a finished project. I still have to figure out some plastic bushings and stuff. Cosmetic finishing, too.

My goal is to make it interchangeable, from the regular Yellowjacket footboard to the one piece. I really haven't figured out why I'd want to do this, but, y'know...

Maybe I should find an extra "Yellowjacket" sticker for the footboard...
